I am a lawyer in Washington, D.C. and I saw the Stanley Crouch piece today about your efforts to save the Coltrane House on Long Island. Outstanding you are doing this and I write to offer to contribute financially on a personal level and perhaps to organize a fundraiser in Washington, DC in support of the project. Do you have information online or that you could send to me about the project that I could share with others. Also, where doI send the check?!

Thanks again for your efforts and I look forward to hearing from you!

Best regards,

Scott B

Dear Mr. Fulgoni:

I grew up in Dix Hills and Huntington and had no idea Coltrane lived in the area.

Is there someone I should write or phone to ask them to save the house?

Sincerely,

Scott S.

Dear Mr. Fulgoni,

I heard about the effort to save the home of mr. Coltrane. I work in the music business, booking signed and unsigned artist's for shows. As a fan of his music i would like to assist in putting together a fundraiser of some sort with musicians of all genres who also share this interest. Mr coltrane, I believe has inspired people of all walks of life and music.

Please contact me.

I'm writing to express my feelings about the sanctity of the home of John Coltrane. This was a man whose influence was so beautiful and so widespread, it must be honored by the preservation of his final home on Earth. I have not yet visited this site, although whatever size, form, or condition it may be in can only be an inspiration to those visitors who have felt his music. Please do whatever you can to ensure that this place is not demolished. It would be so much more valuable as a permanent monument to this great American master.

Cheers,

Hello

I am responding to the article in the New York Daily News on Tuesday, February 17th,2004. The article was on the preservation of the home John Coltrane lived in during the last three years of his life.

John Coltrane has influenced the music I compose and I agree that his contribution to musical history is worthy of a landmark.

Please let me know how I can be involved in the preservation effort.

Thank you,
Shannon (Graham R. Mulready)

The preservation of the home that once belonged to John Coltrane in Dix Hills, Long Island, New York is a matter of great importance. John Coltrane is unquestionably one of America’s greatest musicians, and his album “A Love Supreme” is his most important project, an album that forever changed jazz music and had repercussions for all sorts of music beyond jazz. The home where this music was conceived and crafted, something which Coltrane himself said was a gift from God, is a place where musicians of all sorts would want to visit and experience for generations to come. It is a historical landmark for jazz, African-American culture, and American musical history. Please do whatever it takes to preserve this piece of history. It would be a sad case of consumerist disposal if this home were knocked down for something “new.”

Sincerely,

Mike Cosper
